Insect Infestation Gear

This week gear focuses on something every developer hates: bugs. That's right, use this week's gear to unleash a variety of different types of dangerous insects upon your ROBLOX foes. Bzzz!

Beehive: Drop this item and unleash bee-fury. This hive will unleash 15 clusters of deadly bees, who will swarm your opponents to do up to sixty hit points of damage. When they've had their fill, they fly back to you and swarm around your character.
Poisonous Butterfly: Drop the jar containing the butterfly to set it free. This bug will flutter around, dropping small blocks of poison throughout the map. This dangerous critter will also lob poison at enemies that near you.
Wasp Wings: Equipping this item will outfit your character with wasp wings. Jumping makes the wings flutter, then catch fire, causing damage to any enemy near you. You can also perform the Wasp Dash, where you fly at a low level and smash into enemies for up to 80 hit points of damage.
Fang of Anansi: This powerful sword grants you numerous powers--holding down the mouse button causes you to move at a heightened speed. Each slash does up to 29 hit points of damage, and each hit carries with it a 25% chance of spawning a massive spider that will viciously attack your enemy for you. You can also summon up to eight spider by pressing the "Q" button.

Familiar Summer Interns

Last week, we brought on four up-and-coming engineers to join us in our never-ending quest to make ROBLOX better, faster, and more streamlined. These are names you’ll recognize if you’ve spent some time on ROBLOX–many of them are legends in the community. That’s right, being a power user on ROBLOX can lead to some great things, like an internship right here at ROBLOX HQ. Without further ado: the ROBLOX Summer Interns.

Stravant, formerly xlegox, is known across ROBLOX as an innovator. He was one of the first builders to create a real-time strategy game in ROBLOX (ever hear of a little game called Conquest? There were five of them), in addition to being one of the first builders to create a functioning train (and tracks!). The 20-year-old will be working on ROBLOX’s foundation. Oh, and his real name is Mark Langen.

ROBLOX: What’s the plan for this Summer?

Stravant: I’ll be working on tools in Studio–basically I’ll be creating and altering tools for builders. I’m also hoping improve the Studio experience. I just re-wrote the terrain generator, but there’s still a lot of room for improvements. I’m also working on a super secret building project that I don’t think I can talk about.

ROBLOX: What are your goals?

Stravant: I’m 100% vested in pursuing programming as a career. ROBLOX was the first step. Now, I’m studying computer engineering in college, and I hope to eventually work as a game developer. When you’re a game developer, you get to do a little bit of everything, which suits me.


MrDoomBringer, also known as Cliff Chapman in real life, has had quite the ROBLOX track record. The 21-year-old was already a ROBLOX moderator before accepting the internship, and was the first ROBLOX builder to create a little something you may have heard of: VIP shirts.

ROBLOX: What are you going to be doing here this Summer, Cliff?



MrDoomBringer: Whatever I can to try and make the website better. This involves several aspects. I’ll be working on internal moderation tools, primarily. The tools haven’t been touched in ages, so I’ll be bringing them up to speed. My overall goal is to make roblox.com a much smoother experience in general.

ROBLOX: Tell us a bit about yourself.

MrDoomBringer: Similar story to Mark–I’m currently in college and am studying computer engineering. I want to go into low-level software development, hopefully one day developing my very own indie game. ROBLOX sort of dragged me into programming at a young age, and showed me the patience and skill it takes to actually sit down and focus on building something big. I moved on to C++ and love the language–that’s what I hope to pursue after college.

Merely is the premiere collector of limited items on ROBLOX. He’s also created several popular ROBLOX titles, including Trade Hangout, a game where you can bargain with other users and make deals for limited items. His real name is Nathan Dean, and he joins our team along with his twin brother.

ROBLOX: What are you working on for the Summer?

Merely: I’m mostly going to be working on the web team, finding and fixing bugs. I’m also developing a new feature that would allow you to save your entire outfit, and load that getup with a click of the button. That way you can customize your character’s look, head to toe, then save it and load it easily. I’ve made an Outfit Extension that’s the most popular Chrome extension for ROBLOX, with over 6,500 users.




ROBLOX: Give us some personal background.

Merely: Well, I’m currently studying computer science and engineering. From very early on, I was extremely curious to discover how ROBLOX.com worked. My brother and I began reporting any and all bugs and glitches we would find. Over time, we did all we could as users to help improve the website.

Stravant: [Laughs] Meaning they did all they could to break the website.

Merely: [Laughs] Exactly.
Last but certainly not least, Merely’s twin brother Seranok (aka Matthew Dean) needs no introduction. The creator of Catalog Heaven, one of the most played games on ROBLOX to date, he’s eager to get to work fixing bugs and glitches.

ROBLOX: What are you doing for us this season?

Seranok: I’ve always been more curious about software, as opposed to hardware. I feel like my brother and I have done all we can from the outside to make ROBLOX better. Now, it feels good to come in and work from the inside to see what we can get done. I’ve been working on an extension that can rapidly look up items–you just type in an asset ID, then click on the item. I’ve also been working on a Chrome extension that notifies users when new catalog items come out, or change price. It already has 2,000 users.




As you can no doubt see from our recent staff hires, learning the ropes could land you a sweet gig, and not just here! Many of our users are growing up to be successful programmers, artists and game developers. There’s a massive spectrum of talents to acquire using ROBLOX, whether that’s on the Web, in Studio, or simply learning to make fun games. So keep building! You never know where you’ll end up.

Hello everyone, Voiaman2 here and in this day of age on ROBLOX, there are many scams out there for your account to be stolen, and for your computer to be harmed. I am going to help you find them, and not fall for them.

Phishing Links

When someone posts a Phishing Link, it's a website to steal your account, usually it will have a spot where you place your username and password, once ou press enter it is sent to the owner of that site and they have all access to your account.

Many of these are like the following:

IP Thieves 

Now we get to the IP Thieves. They are able to hack into your computer from ROBLOX games. This is hardly ever used, but it is still possible. The way it works is they hack into the game and they are able to get into your computer, steal any saved passwords, ID, anything, so you have to be careful what you say on games.

Password Scammer

And now we get to the most common way to get into your account, Password Scamming.

They often sending you messages claiming to be admins having to test accounts, this is FAKE. Never ever tell anyone your password.

They can claim to be admins, getting you hats, even helping you with places.

Admins will never ask for your password, if someone ever does ask, report them.

Make a hard password

Never make your password easy to guess, like, Guess12345. That is easy to guess and can cause someone to hack into your account. If you're able, make it as long as possible, or if you have a good memory, make it with random numbers and letters.

"KL341FHSAR"

Like that.

You can try to memorize it, or just write it down and keep it hidden.

How to keep your account safe

If you are out somewhere when theres a computer, like a mall, library, or even at home, if friends use it, here's how to keep your account safe.

Always log out of your account when done

Use a different password on each website

Don't give away passwords anywhere, or leave clues about it.

And remember, giving away accounts, or even trading accounts, may result in a ban or deletion of that account.

If someone ever does hack you, email info@roblox.com, unless you have an Email verified to the account, then you just go to the email and get it back.

If you do not have an email on the account, and you don't have BC, you are unable to get the account back as ROBLOX would need proof it were you. They will ask for the BC's card email.

So remember, keep yourself safe, and everythings good, and if you ever see anyone asking for passwords, report them right away.

Mesh: The mesh is awesome, it's a robotic top hat, a Robotic Top Hat, it's awesome! Along with it being an awesome robot, it's mesh is only used once too! It's not on any other hats, and that's a good thing, from this hats very high price, the one of a kind mesh is the best part of this hat. The best part...

Rating: 10/10

Texture: The texture is a bit boring, it has 5 colors. Black, Red, Blue, Grey and Yellow. Not very exciting, is it? I think this hat could use some color, I mean, with the one of a kind mesh and such high price, you would think that they would of given it a better texture than the one they did.. But even if so, it still looks good.

Rating: 5/10

Pricing: The price is quite high for a top hat, but from the mesh, it's good, with a price of 3,000 Robux currently for the sale, usually it is 5,000 Robux. From this very high price, it's very rare, in fact, only 379 people have it. If this were to go limited, think how rich those people would be! I think this price is perfect for this hat, I mean, it is a very nice hat overall.

Overall: Overall, the hat is awesome, the mesh is epic, he texture is basic but cool, and the price is very high, and there are hardly any sales! If you get this, and it goes limited, you will be very rich indeed.

Hat Review: Blue Plaid Fedora

Mesh: And now we get to the classic Fedora mesh. The old, boring, over-used, copied, re-textured mesh. Even if it's all of the above, I have always loved this fedora mesh more than any other, it's cooler, and probably even 20% cooler. Look at it, it's a fedora, I suppose even if it were bad, it would still be good.

Rating: 10/10

Texture: And we get to the texture of three colors. Blue, Grey and Black. Not much fun, is it? But, most fedoras don't have much color so I suppose it's fine.... Maybe..? I love this mesh a lot, it's the closest thing you can get to the Azure Pinstripe Fedora, so I of course took my chance to get it after I sold my Azure. qq

Rating: 5/10

Pricing: And now we get to the best thing of this hat, of course I want it to be rare if I would be able to get it, the price is 1,357 Robux. I think this price is perfect for this fedora, it's.. it's... perfect. Nothing beats a rare high priced fedora, that just means if it goes limited, it's worth more, even though this won't be worth much with 4019 buys, but hey, who knows what the future may hold, it may be a good limited.

Overall: Overall, this hat is awesome! Cool mesh and texture, and a very high price! I suggest you get this if you can, and remember, it goes off-sale in a few days, get it while you can.

Gear Review: Amerilaser Blaster

Amerilaser Blaster

Mesh: The mesh is awesome, just look at it. A laser gun, awesome! I love the dual barrels, and the fact that this mesh has never been used before is awesome too, an un-used mesh, and it's also only on a limited, rare and awesome! Wow, how hard is that to find?

Rating: 10/10

Texture: The texture's colors are boring with three colors of Red White and Blue, not meant to make anyone mad over not liking the colors, but it's just boring. But I do have to say, the way it looks on the gun is actually very good. I can't deny it, the colors do look very nice on the mesh, I love this texture, it's awesome too!

Rating: 10/10

Pricing: I think the price is perfect. With the original price being 375 Robux. Now, with 1776 sales, the price is now 996 Robux. Personally, I think this price is way to low for the action that it does in-game.  They should of really raised this price.

Rating: 5/10

Action In-Game: Now we get to the best part of this gear, it's action in-game. When you click, it charges up with particles heading towards to gun, and then launches a big beam of Red White and Blue colors, it takes about 3 seconds to reload, and 3 seconds to fire. Along with that, if you use it in a place with Dynamic Lighting, it really shines! I love this, I love all items that work with Dynamic Lighting, and this one, is very nice, and must be one of the best so far.

Rating: 10/10

Overall: Overall, this is an awesome gun, epic mesh and texture, very low price, and an awesome action in-game that works with Dynamic Lighting! If you don't have this, I suggest you do, it's a very nice gear.

Hat Review: Headstack

Headstack

Mesh: Wow, we finally get to the first review for the weekend, okay! This mesh is awesome, there may be many head meshes out there but none on top of each other! Even if the faces are a little basic, it's still awesome! I mean, just look at it, double heads. One of the head items ever!

Rating: 10/10

Texture: Okay, I know I have said MANY times about hats having terrible textures, this is the worst, it's just yellow with a face. How boring is that?! Even if the face is the classic starter face, which is a bit different from the current one, it's still not very good. Headstack, best mesh, worst texture.

Rating: 2/10

Pricing: Now we get to the craziest part, this hat is 280 Robux! Crazy, right? Since this is rare when it came out I suppose it's reasonable.. Back then.

Rating: 3/10

Overall: Overall, this is an amazing hat, epic mesh, bad texture, and terrible price. Get it before it goes off-sale anyways, I sure would!

Hat Review: Crimsonwrath, Lord of the Magma

Crimsonwrath, Lord of the Magma

Mesh: The mesh is very cool. Same with the Bluesteel Bathysphere, this hat mesh has only been used twice. I love this mesh, it's a dark, an evil mesh, I love items like that. Along with that, it fits perfectly on the head of your character, I love it!

Rating: 10/10

Texture: Now we get to the best part of this hat, even the colors are dark and evil! I love the cracks and stones around the eyes, It's awesome! I love dark and evil hats as I said before, and this hat takes the cake. Just look at it compared to the older version, much better! Also the same as the Bluesteel Bathysphere, this texture is user-made by NonStopEpic! Good job!

Rating: 10/10

Pricing: This is one of the craziest hats to ever be sold. The original price was 45,000 Robux. That is WAY TO HIGH. That isn't the crazy part yet, this hat, with 254 sales, is now 90,000 Robux. What do I think? I think it's way to high, and that price is way to crazy, CRAZY.

What do I think of this hat?

Personally, I love it just as much as the Bluesteel Bathysphere! I love the mesh and the texture, especially the cracks over the eyes, it gives the hat more feeling and more darkness and evilness, it's amazing how anything like this is possible, it's simply amazing.

Overall: Overall, this hat is amazing, rare mesh, best texture! I have a feeling this hat will sell for a very high price, so get your Robux ready!

Hat Review: Bluesteel Bathysphere

Bluesteel Bathysphere

Mesh: The mesh is quite awesome. Having only been on one other hat, the Bathysphere, this mesh is so cool, and .. two of a kind! The original mesh was made in 2009, who knew such a hat could make such a dramatic comeback?! Even if the mesh looks a little odd on the body, it's very nice, even with it's flaws.

Rating: 10/10

Texture: Now we get to the best part. it looks EXACTLY like the original texture in style, just different colors. Along with this being a User-Made texture, it's quite good. How is it so good? One of ROBLOX's best Retexturers, DarkGenex! He did such a great job changing the colors, it's remarkable! I see no different in texture from the colors alone. It's simply amazing how so many things are possible.

Rating: 10/10

Pricing: And now, the very sad part. This hat sold for 50 Robux originally. Now with 10,000 sales, this hat is selling for the cheap price of 328 Robux. Personally, I think this is way to low! I mean, so cheap, WHY? It won in a poll out of, tons of hats entered? Seriously? Ugh.
Rating: 2/10

What do I think of the hat?

Personally, I love the hat! I think it's amazing how DarkGenex has gotten many hats published, and this is one of the best! Just look at it, it's blue! Nothing beats blue, everyone knows that. And as this WAS a forgotten hat, it was such a good choice as no one else would ever think of retexturing it.

Overall: Overall, this hat is amazing! Only two meshes ever made, an exact texture, and just rare! I have a feeling this will not be cheap in the least.

Hat Review: Digital Green Helmet

Digital Green Helmet

Mesh: This mesh is awesome and very rare, as it was only used on two hats, which were released at the same time. And to that, this hat means a lot to me since it was my first ever hat on my first account, Voiaman, which the password is sadly forgotten. So this hat means a while lot to me. So this is a very cool mesh, and very rare too.

Rating: 10/10

Texture: The texture is quite boring. It's only three colors, Green, White and Grey. Even if the mesh is nice, the colors are cool.. But boring. You know in my opinion, most hats aren't good unless they're Blue.  Just look at it, it's not very good in the least. Even so, it could be worse.

Rating: 5/10

Pricing: Sadly, this hat is no longer for sale, and it was such a long time ago I hardly remember the original price, I believe it was 50 Tickets. It was back in 2010 when they made it, introducing Disney XD along with the show, Zeke and Luther. I wish it were still for sale, but sadly, it's not, and I guess theres no way to change that.

Rating: 5/10

Overall: Overall, this hat has a very rare mesh, a boring texture, and is now impossible to get. If you have this, you're lucky.

Hat Review: Lua Cap

Mesh: The mesh is very nice, and very overused, as it is one of the simple baseball cap meshes it's highly overused. But as it is an old style mesh, and many of the other hats are forgotten or off-sale, this mesh is close to rare.

Rating: 10/10

Texture: Now we get to the best part! The colors are White and Blue. So of course that would be the best part of this hat, as those are my favorite colors, and my favorite color combinations. And having the words Lua on the top are rare, as only two hats have that, a Top Hat and this cap. So, you already know what this hat's rating is going to be.

Rating: 10/10

Pricing: Now we get to the sad part of this hat, it's so simple, yet not cheap. It costs 750 Tickets. With 7878 being sold, it's cheap enough, as it's only 75 Robux to make 800. Even if so, this hat is to simple for this crazy price, why it's so high, I have no clue.. 

Rating: 2/10

Overall: Overall, this hat has a nice but over-used mesh, an epic texture, and a terribly high price. If you can get this, do.

Hat Review: Demon-lite

Demon-lite

Mesh: I love the mesh! It's a bug that sits on your head. A BUG. THAT SITS. ON YOUR HEAD. Awesome. For many people, they say it looks like the Pokemon Zekrom, personally, I don't see it in shape, but I do see it in color.. Sort of..? Even if it's not related to Zekrom in any way, it's still very cool, and a very nice mesh indeed.

Rating: 10/10

Texture: As a lot of you know, blue is my favorite color, so of course it would be mentioned. I love the electric type look, like on Zekrom. I guess another reason people think of them related. Hm.. If it were Blue and White it would be better in my opinion, but the Blue and Black is okay, and it does make the hat look a while lot better.

Rating: 10/10

Pricing: With the original price being 100 Robux, I think that was to low! The price is now 400 Robux, with 2,000 being sold. I think this hat is so cool, I have 5 of them myself! I think the price should be close to 1,000 from just the way it looks, it's so awesome! With it being to cheap, I can get tons of them, and I can rule the bug world, Mwuha!.... Uhm.. No one saw that.

Overall: Overall, this is an awesome bug! The mesh is one of a kind, and texture has blue, and nothing beats blue, and it's cheap too! If you can get this hat, I suggest you do.

Hat Review: Goldface

 

Goldface

Mesh: The mesh is amazing, as it's based off one of my favorite LEGO Brands, Bionicle. This mask is exactly like Toa Tahu's original mask, Kanohi Hau. The shape, the face, everything is exactly the same. I only wish I could of bought it.

 

Rating: 10/10

Texture: The texture is cool too, unlike the original Kanohi Hau, which was Red, this one is gold, like the Power Hau. I just love it, even if it is gold, and that it even has eyes, and everything, it's so awesome! I love this hat, and it's certainly one of my most favorites.

Rating: 10/10

Pricing: The sad part is, it's no longer for sale, with a very low 68 sales. The reason for it being off-sale? Same with many other ROBLOX hat that has gone off-sale for no reason, Copy-Right issues. LEGO was going to sue ROBLOX for taking the Hau without permission and giving no credit to LEGO. This has happened with many other hats before, and it's sure to happen again.

Rating: 5/10

Overall: Overall, this hat is awesome, amazing mesh and texture, and one of my favorite LEGO brands!  If you have this, you are very lucky!

Hat Review: DJ Kryptonik

 

DJ Kryptonik

Mesh: The mesh is overused, and very old too. I see nothing special in a clown mask, and personally, I find it a bit creepy. I am not a big fan of clowns or anything relating to clowns, and clown masks are the worst, just look at them, ew..

Rating: 2/10

Texture: The texture is very nice though, even if it's a clown, I love the dark green the the black mixing together. I love the stripe down the center and the big X on the side, along with the stripe over the eye. The mesh may be creepy, but the texture makes it much better.

Rating: 10/10

How to get: I'm sad to say, only two people have this hat, Shedletsky and KryptonikOfficial. The reason this hat was made is because KryptonikOffical is the new music designer for ROBLOX, and they made a hat to dedicate him, he is not an official administrator, but he helps in music for gear and videos. Although, there may be hope, here is KryptonikOfficial's status - " Guys just found ou tht roblox might consider putting my mask up for grabs ifs the most talked about on forums. Idk what tht means but go figure" - As it says, if there are enough forum posts about it, the hat will be release,d if this is true or not is unknown.

Overall: Overall, this is an awesome and one of a kind hat, creepy mesh, and an awesome texture, and sadly you can't get it, but who knows, it may come on sale on Memorial Day. Congratulations KryptonikOfficial.

Hat Review: The Maker Fedora

The Maker Fedora

Mesh: I think this is the most interesting mesh I have seen of a fedora, it has the original mesh from the Shady Business Hat which has been copied many times, but this has papers and a charm on it. I love this! I am not a big fan of the Shady Business Hat or it's copies, but this one I love! They didn't re-use a mesh, they re-did a mesh! This is hardly done with any hats and I think it's just awesome when they do it, because they usually do such a great job with it.

Rating: 10/10

Texture: The texture is hard to explain. We have dark-ish green for the fedora itself, but the band with the papers and the charm, it a whole mixture of colors! It looks like green, yellow, blue and orange, but I may be mistaken. Ont he charm we have Gold and Black, and the papers we have brown. The texture for this is more than two colors, and that is a rare thing to find on a fedora, that's probably why this is so hard to get.

Rating: 10/10

How to get: To get this, simply visit the Maker Fair in San Francisco this Saturday or Sunday, along with visiting them, you get a ROBLOX T-Shirt, a Real Life Pinstripe Fedora, and a pair of ROBLOX Ear buds. I hope someone will sell their fedora! Anyways, I think for such a special hat, it deserves to be rare like this, as only a handful of people may get it, it's rare and special.

Rating: 10/10

Overall: Overall, this is a great hat, with a rare mesh, and a multi-colored texture! Along with it being so rare from having to go to the Maker's Fair, if you get this, you are lucky!

Home Screen Changes!

Hello readers, over night ROBLOX has changed the Home Screen. Let's see what they've done.







As you can see, we have a new Shout Bar, with a brand new Share button!

As you can see here, we have a brand new Feed, also showing a full-time Report button.

Here we have a brand new welcome screen, with a nice Hello, [Player]!. Along with new words showing Notifications, and the Robux Bonus.

Here we have a brand new Best Friends list, with a big Edit button, clicking it simply leads to the friend list.

And last we have the new Recently Played Games. Not much of a difference, but it looks way better.


What do I think of these changes?


I think they're nice, and they do stand out, when I logged on this morning I instantly knew they were changed. Maybe it's just me, or not. But I think they did a good job on the changes.
